Chapter 4
Although this homework will not be collected, quiz and test questions are usually
very similar to the homework problems. By doing the homework problems you will get
a lot of practice before you reach a test. Note that brief answers to the oddnumbered
problems can usually be found in the back of the book.
 Section 4.1, Numbers 5, 7, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 25, 37, 39, 63, 65, 71,
Hints: In 13 and 15 factor completely, then use the factor theorem. In 37 and 39 use the factor theorem.
In 63 and 65 do not use division; just graph by plotting points.
In 71, graph with your calculator, using your zero key to find xintercepts
and the maximum or minimum key to find extreme points.
