Welcome


We are the teaching department for computing and offer a complete major in CIS. The major currently has a choice of a CS (computer science), IT (information technology), or BIN (bioinformatics) concentration. The minor is flexible, allowing specializations in areas such as computer security, web technologies, databases, mathematics & computing, and programming languages.

  • Tentative Schedule of fall 2008 CIS classes (Excel spreadsheet) or CIS class schedule (html). Let Br. David know of scheduling complications.
  • Several new internships, part-time and full-time jobs are being advertised.
  • According to a 2006 CNN report, 5 out of the 10 fastest growing jobs, both in terms of number of positions and salary, are in the field of computing! The 5 are: computer systems software engineer, computer applications software engineer, computer systems analyst, database administrator, and network systems and data communication analyst.
  • The National Science Foundation's Science and Engineering Indicators 2002 report, comparing job prospects in 2000 with those in 2010, projects a 100% increase in software engineering positions and nearly a 60% growth in computer systems analysis positions during the same time period.
  • CNN Money lists IT generalist and network administrator among their top 20 jobs for young people.
