Attempting to circumvent security measures on any of
our computer systems is considered grounds for loss of
lab priviledges, and can get one reported to the Dean of
Students for abuse of computing facilities. Signficant problematic
activity can also lead to intervention by law enforcement. All lab
usage may be monitored at any time without prior notice.
Using our computers is a privilege, not a right, and that privilege can be revoked at any time.
Please treat the machines well. Abusing them only
decreases the number of machines available for your use. We
also ask that you do not smoke, eat, drink, etc. in the lab.
Try to be quiet and maintain an atmosphere
conducive to work. We also would like to remind you that
accessing pornography or other offensive material, sending
harassing e-mail, etc. is considered unacceptable
and may be grounds for the loss of lab priviledges, disciplinary action, etc.
Read the CIS Department Policies
for more complete information on what is expected in the use of
departmental facilities, student web pages, etc.
At present the CIS department has two servers, one running Windows 2008 and
one running UNIX. If there are any problems with the
servers or the lab hardware or software, alert Br. David Carlson
(phone 724-805-2416, e-mail carlsond@stvincent.edu),
James Hoffman (james.hoffman@stvincent.edu),
or Derek Kaser (derek.kaser@stvincent.edu).
