Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Matt Manspeaker and I am an alumni of the St. Vincent College CIS department. I graduated in May of 2013. I currently live and work in Pittsburgh, PA as an API Developer at Branding Brand. In my free time I'm involved in music and I play ice hockey.

What technologies do you use in your career?

I use Node.js to build RESTFUL API back-ends for our client sites that the front-end and apps teams use to build on top of. We specialize in mobile e-commerce and our clients include over 200 of the world's leading retailers, including American Eagle Outfitters, Crate & Barrel, Ralph Lauren, and Sephora.

What CIS class or classes do you feel benefited you the most?

I feel that CS110, 111, and data structures were the most important classes I took at St. Vincent because they gave me a solid programming foundation in C++ from which I have been able to build on and branch out to other languages and applications. I feel that a strong understanding of databases and networking are also highly important in the real world.
