MA 109 Homework

Chapter 2

Homework assignments are listed by their due dates. Although homework is only ocasionally collected (except for calculator and Mathematica homework which usually is collected), quiz problems are often based on the homework.
  • Fri, Feb 12, Section 2.1, Numbers 7, 9, 11, 17, 21, 25, 27, 29, 35, 37, 43
  • Fri, Feb 12, also try out Derivative As a Function Demo. You will need either a computer with Mathematica installed on it or you will need to download the free Mathematica player.
  • Mon, Feb 15, Section 2.2, Numbers 1 - 15 odd, 23 - 33 odd, 39, 41
  • Tue, Feb 16, Section 2.3, Numbers 3, 11, 13, 17, 21, 25, 27, 35, 37, 43, 47
  • Wed, Feb 17, Section 2.4, Numbers 3, 7, 9, 13, 19, 21, 29, 37
  • Fri, Feb 19, Section 2.4 again, Numbers 23, 25, and graph f(x) = [(x+3)(x-2)] / [(x+1)(x-5)]. In all three problems, graph the functions for ALL x in the domains and make sure to find and graph ALL of the asymptotes.
  • Mon, Feb 22, Section 2.5, Numbers 3, 5, 11
Then find the absolute minimum over [-3, 10] for the same function from problem Number 3.
  • Tue, Feb 23, Section 2.7, 3 - 11 odd
  • Fri, Mar 12, last day to submit the online homework/quiz on optimization with the calculator. To do the quiz you need your homework sheet from class, your calculator, and your password for Br. David's online quiz system. If you have forgotten or lost the password, send an email to Br. David. Remember that you have to grant an exception for our self-made certificate. Here is a copy of the sheet of functions to use for this quiz. (Requires Adobe Reader.)
